About Keyanna

Hey Yall! I’m Keyanna and this is my blog.

I was an athlete for over 20 years and I created this blog as a resource to help you achieve total body wellness all from the comfort of your own home.

This blog can help if you are looking for ways to:

  • Find workout resources, tips and guides.
  • Learn how to create new routines of working out consistently.
  • Eat better, have more energy and feel better overall.

…all without feeling like you need to starve and deprive yourself or go through any rough and crazy amounts of  training.

The Slightly Longer Without Boring You Too Much Version Of My Story… If You Care…

I played basketball from the age of 6 all the way up to 25. I was grateful to have traveled throughout the US, playing against some of the top players in the country from elementary all the way up to high school.

I had received scholarship offers from some of the best schools, but I wasn’t the best student when it came to good grades.

…not because I wasn’t smart

…or maybe that was the case lol…

It was moreso that I didn’t find school that interesting at the time.

So I ended up at a 2 year college in Chicago then transferred down to Mississippi Valley state to finish up there.

After college, I played semi-pro in Orlando for a bit then decided to hang up my shoes for good.

Basketball was my life. I loved the game …but needed a break.

My body was tired.

Soon after …my break became kinda permanent or comfortable I should say.

…and going to the gym became difficult.

As the lbs of my body started to add up, so did the aches and pains.

….and I was only in my twenties!

Ughhhh…!

Let’s just say, I struggled with my weight and overall wellness over the next 8-9 years.

Every time I went to the gym, it was an internal fight with myself because I was trying to train like I was training for a game.

…and it always ended up in injuring myself.

Trying to do too much lol.

You see, I was so used to putting my body through rigorous training that I didn’t really know how to just be ‘normal’ and do normal people workouts.

I felt like I had to train hard.

…which there’s nothing wrong with that.

But it wasn’t really what I was really going for.

I just wanted to have a simple, consistent way to maintain good fitness and develop a plan that I could stick with.

My mind had something else planned every time I stepped in the gym though haha!

Long story short, I eventually got my act together and started by walking everyday.

I would walk for at least 30 minutes a day.

That evolved to doing some bodyweight exercises and yoga.

I always had issues with my back since an injury in college, so I wanted to start doing some restorative things to make my body less achy.

Then I started feeding my body with real, whole foods. (yeah if we are not eating real food, then what are we really eating ?? ) …mmm hmm – another story for another day..

But this is when things started improving tremendously.

Today, I have my little home workout studio (shares a space with my office lol) where I’ve developed a simple workout habit, my body feels much better because I feed it the right foods and I didn’t need to go through any crazy training regimens to get here.

So, this blog is for you if you want simple fitness tips to build a routine, home gym and workout ideas, or even food and meal plans for total body wellness.

I’ve bought and used many fitness training products, tried so many different types of workouts and have done many types of ‘diets’ or eating plans, just to see what made my body feel better.

I say all of that to say that… I gotcha covered!
